What is the Federal Reserve?

The Federal Reserve controls the finances of the United States and the American People. It is important to understand the Federal Reserve in order to understand the value of the dollar, inflation, and interest rates. The Federal Reserve answers to, but is not regulated, by Congress.

When the value of our dollar goes down, all imported goods increase in price. If you were to take a vacation in a foreign country now, you would quickly become aware of how the value of the dollar has decreased. American dollars are worth much less in foreign countries than they were a few years ago.
